Nah I mean, a man of your intellectual stature deserves a more complete response than I am (currently) willing to afford you, and for that I beg your forgiveness and tolerance.

But there are few who are more pathetically obsessed with Thaksin than I. The short of it is that he's merely trying to desperately stay relevant in the leadup to the general election.

Abhisit, who is a god damn fucking genius the world sees once every 20 years, has a lot of advantages (most of which he's earned rather than stumbled into, of course) - but be that as it may, he can call the election literally any time he wants and Thaksin has to be (currently) 'relevant'. I personally think Abhisit is going to drag it (and him) out for that reason, and it's really a damned-if-you-do and fucked-if you-don't dilemma for Thaksin.

He has to stay relevant. Non-stop. And staying relevant when you're not relevant, that shit gets really expensive on a day-to-day or even an hourly basis. And it's gonna last most of the year I think.

So the only way we'll see violence is if the unthinkable happens, and Thaksin finally runs out of stolen baht in his overseas accounts. Then he might make a play for all the marbles, but violence in Thailand now? Nah. The entire country would string them up.

Of course, there are (as always in Thai politics) some big fucking unknowns. Like - ahem - secession and battling over secessions looming and god knows what else. So maybe we'll have some fun when those Wild cards are flopped down unexpectedly...

Yeah I never really been one to underestimate him but I admit this was a masterstroke I really should have seen coming. He hasn't fluked this; this was pure Thai genuis from a mile away.

He's got both sides of the 'war'. This, like everything in fucking fascinating Thai 17-level politics, is pure staged theatre. Thaksin and Hun Sen are playing filthy dirty brilliant politics here, and the Yellows are spastic enough and irrelevant enough to decide they'll play the foil for him.

It's outrageous. And eerily brilliant. And scripted surely from a long time before those morans got 'lost' and 'wandered' a few hundred m over into the demarcation zone.

An infantry corps headquarters in Prachuab Khiri Khan province on Friday filed a complaint with police that its hundreds of weapons have been stolen from its depot.
