Michigan man arrested with gun, marijuana and box of live baby squirrels
This arrest is just a little nuts.
A Michigan man was arrested with a gun and pot — and a shoebox full of live baby squirrels, police said.
Ian Breiholz, 32, was spotted digging through a CVS dumpster in Chesterfield Township, according to WDIV-TV.
After someone called to report the man’s dumpster-diving activities, police officers came and searched his vehicle, where they found expired candy bars the store had chucked in the trash.
They also found a gun — which Breiholz wasn’t legally allowed to have because he’s a felon — and medical marijuana. And a box of squirrels.
Police said Breiholz digs through garbage on the regular and at some point he found the squirrels in the trash and rescued them.
“It's not illegal to possess them, ah, different,” Chief Brad Kersten told Fox affiliate WJBK.
“Obviously you never know what you're going to find when you are digging into a vehicle.”
Sadly, the dumpster-diving squirrel saver’s furry friends were confiscated when cops collared him.
“The squirrels were turned over to the animal control department of Macomb County,” Kersten said.
“And the last we checked they were going to be released.”
Breiholz was released on bond and is due back in court at the end of the month
